COMMUNICATION

Under the terms and for the purposes of Article 17 of Regulation (EU) No. 596/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16 April 2014 and other applicable regulations, REN – Redes Energéticas Nacionais, S.G.P.S., S.A. ("REN") hereby informs the market and the general public that REN Gás, a company fully owned by REN Group, or a company owned by it, has been appointed on a transitional basis as the entity responsible for the planning, development, and management of the dedicated hydrogen network infrastructure in the national territory.

According to the Order of the Minister for the Environment and Energy (Order No. 6750-C/2025, of 23 June 2025), this appointment shall remain in effect until the final designation of the responsible entity, which will take place following the transposition of Directive (EU) 2024/1788 on common rules for the internal markets for renewable gases, natural gas, and hydrogen. This Directive must be transposed into national law by August 2026.

With this appointment, REN Gás will ensure national representation in the European Network of Network Operators for Hydrogen (ENNOH), pursuant to Article 57 of Regulation (EU) 2024/1789, until the definitive certification of the national operator.
