Earnings Update and Appointment of Non-Executive Director
Earnings Update
MACA Limited (‘MACA’) (ASX: MLD) is very pleased to announce that it remains on track to comfortably exceed its full year Prospectus forecast pro-forma NPAT of $23.1 million, with pro-forma NPAT expected to be in the range of $27-30 million, subject to audit and unforseen events.
The anticipated results for the full year are particularly pleasing given the significant disruptions experienced during the second half, including severe rain events which were more substantial than at any time in MACA’s history. The impact of these events has been largely offset by a continued focus on the efficient maintenance of the mining fleet and active management of corporate overheads.
The company continues to grow its strong balance sheet and is very well positioned to achieve its growth objectives following the recent announcements in relation to projects being developed by WPG Resources Limited (ASX: WPG) and Regis Resources Limited (ASX: RRL). Work in hand, including these projects, currently stands at approximately $1.3 billion, up from $712 million as at 31 December 2010.
Appointment of Non-Executive Director
MACA Limited is also pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs Karen Field as a Non-Executive Director of the Company with immediate effect. The appointment is consistent with MACA’s stated objective of appointing a third Non-Executive Director to chair the Audit and Risk Committee.
Mrs Field has been involved in the minerals industry for over 30 years and has a strong background in strategic planning, project management and human resources. Mrs Field has held operational and executive positions in a variety of mining industry sectors throughout Australia and in South America. Prior to returning to Australia to assume non-executive directorship roles, Mrs Field was President of Minera Alumbrera Ltd, an Argentine based management company established to develop and operate the large scale Alumbrera copper/gold project in north western Argentina.
Mrs Field is a current board member of the Water Corporation, Sungrid Limited, Sipa Resources Limited, Amana Living Inc and the Gravity Discovery Centre Foundation. Previous directorships include Perilya Limited, Electricity Networks Corporation and the Centre for Sustainable Resource Processing. She is also a Patron of the University of Western Australia and a Committee member of UWA’s Centenary Trust for Women.
