Manager Announcements Company Announcements Office Australian Stock Exchange Limited 4th Floor, 20 Bridge Street Sydney NSW 2000
Dear Sir
Former Newmont Exploration Head Joins Regis
The Directors of Regis Resources NL ("Regis") are pleased to announce that former Normandy and Newmont exploration head Bob Perring has joined Regis.
Bob Perring is a graduate of the University of Technology in Sydney and the Royal School of Mines in London and has held various exploration and management positions with Geopeko, Pancontinental Mining, Normandy Mining and Newmont Australia. Most recently Bob held the positions of Director-Geology (Australia and New Zealand) and Executive General Manager - Exploration (Australia and New Zealand) for Newmont Australia, where he was responsible for all exploration activities.
By joining Regis, Bob will continue his association with the Duketon joint ventures in the Laverton region of Western Australia, joint ventures that he previously managed while with Newmont. Following completion of the transaction between Regis and Newmont Australia announced on 9th March 2005. Regis will have an effective interest of 59% in the Duketon joint ventures. Completion is anticipated in the current quarter.
Bob will be based in Regis' Perth office and focus his attentions on the largely unexplored ultramafic rock sequences in the Duketon joint venture tenements, and in particular the nickel-copper-PGE (platinum group element) potential of Regis' extensive Collurabbie holdings. In this area, the Company has at least a 15km strike extension of the sequence which hosts the Olympia Ni-Cu-PGE project of BHP Billiton and Falcon Minerals which adioins to the north. The Regis tenements have not been systematically explored but are known to contain several historical nickel prospects. This new nickel exploration program is in addition to the existing gold exploration program underway within the Duketon joint ventures and to the recently announced scoping study on the Moolart Well gold project where drilling commenced recently.
Yours sincerely
David Walker Managing Director
