RED MOUNTAIN EXTENDS HIGH GRADE EARLY MINING ZONE BY UP TO 50M
-
High grade gold surface results of 3m @ 24.2 g/t Au including 1m @ 39.5 g/t Au
-
New results extend main South West Breccia lode by up to 50 metres strike length
-
New resource model due soon for at surface, high grade early mining target
Perth, Western Australia: Red Mountain Mining Limited ( ASX:RMX ) today released new, very high grade, gold surface results from its Batangas Gold Project approx 120km south of Manilla in the Philippines.
The results are from the South West Breccia (SWB) lode extended area, including a partially excavated lode in Trench 38 that returned a 3.0 metre wide intersection averaging 24.2 g/t gold (Au), including 1m @ 39.5 g/t Au excavated below previously announced high-grade boulders that produced gold results of 33.5 g/t Au; 27.7 g/t Au and 11.5 g/t Au (released 2 March 2015).
This new high grade gold zone is the interpreted extension of the SWB Main Lode, and extends this zone by 50 metres to the southwest of previous testing on this structure (e.g. Trench 36, SWB Main Lode: 4.5m @ 14.8 g/t Au including 1.0m @ 44.9 g/t Au – released 2 March 2015, see Figure 1). The lode exposure is interpreted to be steeply dipping and was not tested by a previous vertical hole (LB02 – drilled pre 2005), drilled into the immediate hangingwall.
Red Mountain Managing Director Jon Dugdale said: “This new high grade gold intersection confirms that we have found the extension to the Main SWB lode, which remains untested for up to 50 metres south west of previous drilling.
“There is now significant potential to add to the high grade SWB resource and early mining target through continued trenching, and future drill testing.”
Other results included Trench 37 extended, that intersected 10m @ 1.17 g/t Au from colluvium overlying the hangingwall lode structure (see Figure 1).
A new resource model is being prepared for the outcropping high grade early mining targets within the 500m exposed SWB lode corridor (see Figure 2), which includes SWB Extended, Japanese Tunnel – Trench 7 area and the Limestone Target. This will be integrated with the existing resource model for SWB that includes an Indicated Resource of 221,000 tonnes grading 6.3 g/t Au (released as part of the total Batangas JORC 2012 Indicated and Inferred Mineral Resource of 6.19 million tonnes @ 2.2 g/t Au, 444,000 oz Au, released 30 June 2014), and open pit mining inventory included in the Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS) in progress of 174,000t @ 6.8 g/t Au (released 20 November 2014).
Discussions continue with potential candidates for toll processing and/or ore sales of this early mining resource target, that will potentially provide an early cashflow for the Company prior to the establishment of processing facilities for the greater resource based project.

About Red Mountain Mining Limited and the Batangas Gold Project
Red Mountain Mining (ASX: RMX) is a gold exploration and development company which listed on the ASX in September 2011. The Company’s strategy is to unlock the potential of ‘under-developed’ gold and polymetallic projects in the greater Asian region by introducing Australian exploration and mining methods and improving efficiencies to gain significant exploration and production upside.
The Company holds a 100% direct and indirect contractual right interest in tenements in the Philippines that contain significant gold resources. Total Mineral Resources at Batangas include Indicated Resources of 2.97 million tonnes @ 2.4 g/t Au, 227,000 oz Au and Inferred Resources of 3.22 million tonnes @ 2.1 g/t Au, 218,000oz Au for a total of 6.19 million tonnes at 2.2 g/t Au, 444,000oz Au (ASX announcement 30 June 2014, JORC 2012). The Company is continuing exploration with the objectives of upgrading mineral resources at Batangas.
The Company announced Agreement with London backed, BVI registered, BMVL on 23 December 2014 which includes a two stage funding arrangement totalling US$5.5 million (~A$6.7 million), earning BMVL up to 50% of the currently wholly owned subsidiary, Red Mountain Mining Singapore Ltd, which is the holder of the Philippines based Batangas Gold Project assets.
Funding under the Agreement with BMVL will allow the Company to complete a DFS on the project, with initial results confirming low capital and operating costs and recovery of over 100,000 ounces of gold during the initial 5 years of production (ASX announcement 20 November 2014 and updated 23 January 2015).
Final mine development permitting submissions have been lodged with the Philippines Government (ASX announcement 3 April 2014) and are proceeding towards approval.
Other gold opportunities will be reviewed on a continuous basis.
