REC Silicon – Restart of REC Silicon Moses Lake Update

Moses Lake, Washington USA – November 30, 2023: REC Silicon ASA provides an update on the successful restart of the silane-based high-purity granular production facility in Moses Lake, Washington.

As stated in the Q3 2023 release, the start-up process commenced in late October and early November for the initial systems required to begin ramping up our production process. Consistent with prior communication, our Silane III unit came online, and production of the first granular polysilicon has started. We will continue to bring capacity and capability online, as we stabilize each step and phase of our ramp, which is still targeted to result in full capacity of granular polysilicon available in Q4 2024.

Further planning is currently underway to evaluate opportunities to pull forward the scheduling and pace of the previously communicated ramp while maintaining stability and focusing on continuous improvement of our high-purity granular product.

Kurt Levens, CEO, said, "Our focus is on stability and increasing capacity utilization as soon as practical. Our employees' experience in starting up and operating complex continuous chemical processes meshed with continuous polysilicon processes is directly indicated in where we are right now. As previously communicated, we plan to start the first deliveries of high-purity granular polysilicon in Q1 2024, and we look forward to presenting further information in person during our Quarterly Results update in February."

As a leading producer of silane gases and silicon metals, REC Silicon is well-positioned to capitalize on the global megatrends of digitalization, energy transition, and energy storage. The company has developed a strong market position in the Semiconductor industry based on its operations in Butte. The re-opening of the Moses Lake operations will enable REC Silicon to provide polysilicon to an emerging US solar value chain and potentially supply silane gas for anode material to a fast-growing battery industry.
