Re: Appointment of Directors

The Board of Rand Mining N.L. is pleased to announce the appointment of two additional directors, namely Dr. John Andrews (Mining Engineer/Mineral Processing) and Mr. Gordon Sklenka (Corporate Finance).

Dr. Andrews graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1970 gaining a B.Sc. (Mathematics), B.E. (Honours I Mining Engineering) and the University Medal. He received a Fullbright Travel Grant to study at the University of California (Berkeley) where he was awarded an M.S. (Mineral Processing), a Ph.D. (Mineral Processing) and the Henry De Witt Smith Award by A.I.M.E. He is a Fellow of AusIMM, has granted patents in mineral processing, and over 50 technical publications to his name.

After several years in industry, he joined the Department of Chemical Engineering, Monash University where he is a Senior Lecturer in that department. He has widely consulted to mining and to research companies.

Mr. Sklenka graduated from the University of Western Australia in 1984 with a B.Comm. (Accounting $&$ Finance). He began his career in Chartered Accounting working in Sydney and Perth. He has more than 15 years experience in corporate finance in the resources and technology sectors focusing on capital raisings, IPO's, acquisitions and project finance.

Mr. Sklenka has worked for First Capital Group, D.J. Carmichael (stockbrokers) and for a number of listed public companies in Australia and Canada and has developed extensive experience in company formation, capital raising and project acquisition.

The satisfactory completion of negotiations for the commencement of the development of the Raleigh Underground mine with Placer Dome Asia Pacific (part of the EKJV project) provides the Company with an excellent base for its further expansion within the
