November 1999 – Die PSI AG und der Verein Deutscher Eisenhüttenleute (VDEh) haben die Gründung eines Joint Venture vereinbart, an dem PSI mit 58% und der VDEh mit 42% beteiligt sein werden. Die PSI wird ihren Geschäftsbereich “Produktion”, der VDEh seine Tochtergesellschaft BFI-BT mit allen Assets zum 1. Januar 2000 in die neue PSI Business Technology for Industries AG (PSI-BT AG) einbringen. Ziel des Joint Venture ist eine Bündelung der Kräfte beider Anbieter, um zukünftig noch besser im globalen Wettbewerb zu bestehen. Als deutscher Marktführer im Bereich von Produktionslogistik-Lösungen in der Chemie- und Stahlindustrie strebt das Unternehmen kurzfristig eine führende Position in Europa an. Die besondere Stärke der PSI-BT AG liegt in der eigenen branchenspezifischen Komplettlösung für alle Geschäftsprozesse der Kunden in den adressierten Zielmärkten. BFI-BT entwickelt in diesem Bereich seit Jahren operative Produktionsplanungs- und Steuerungssoftware (oPPS), PSI realisiert Softwarelösungen für das Produktions-management in der Stahl- und Chemischen Industrie und verfügt mit PSIPENTA über ein technologisch führendes Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System, das zukünftig verstärkt in diesen Märkten eingesetzt werden soll. Hierdurch werden zusätzliche Wachstumsimpulse erwartet. Der deutsche Markt für Anwendungssoftware wird laut EITO im Jahr 2000 wie schon in 1999 um 13% wachsen. Wesentliche Triebkraft dieses Wachstums ist der anhaltende Bedarf für Softwarelösungen zur ganzheitlichen Unterstützung der Geschäftsprozesse und zur Stärkung der Position im globalen Wettbewerb. PSI-BT erwartet vor diesem Hintergrund für das Jahr 2000 einen Umsatz von über 40 Millionen DM. Mit der Gründung des Joint Ventures mit dem VDEh setzt die PSI AG ihre Wachstumsstrategie fort. Beide Partner bauen durch den Zusammenschluß ihre Marktposition in den adressierten Zielmärkten aus und beschleunigen die Internationalisierung. Auch zukünftig werden strategische Allianzen zum weiteren Wachstum und zur Internationalisierung der PSI AG beitragen. Den Kunden aus den Bereichen Chemie und Stahl steht durch diese Allianz ein komplettes Leistungsangebot aus einer Hand zur Verfügung. On 1 January 2000, PSI will transfer its business unit “Production” and VDEh its subsidiary BFI-BT, with all their assets, into the new PSI Business Technology for Industries AG (PSI-BT AG). The objective of the joint venture is to bundle the providers’ strengths to be more competitive in the global markets. As the German market leader in the field of production logistic solutions for the chemical and steel industries, the company is aiming to take on a leading position in the European market. PSI-BT AG’s particular strength lies in their branch-specific complete solutions for all the customer’s business processes in the target markets. BFI-BT has been developing operative project planning and control software (oPPS) in this area for years. PSI implements software solutions for production management in the steel and chemical industries and with PSIPENTA has a leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) system which will be used to a greater degree in this field in the future. Additional growth is therefore expected in this sector. The German market for application software will grow by 13 % in 2000, as it has in 1999, according to EITO. The driving force for this growth is the continuing need for software solutions for the holistic support of business processes and strengthening of the position amongst the global competition. Based on these facts, PSI-BT expects sales of over DM 40 million for the year 2000. With the founding of the joint venture with VDEh, PSI AG continues its growth strategy. The merger allows both partners to expand their market positions in their target markets and to accelerate internationalization. Strategic alliances will also continue to contribute to PSI AG’s growth and internationalization. The alliance provides customers in the fields of chemicals and steel with a complete palette of products from one provider.
