Proximus Group welcomes Stijn Bijnens as new CEO
The Board of Directors of Proximus, upon the recommendation of the Nomination and Remuneration Committee, has appointed Stijn Bijnens as new CEO of the Proximus Group.
Stijn Bijnens, 56 years, Belgian and born in Bilzen, holding a Master's degree in computer sciences at the KU Leuven, is a genuine entrepreneur. He started his career in 1995 creating the network security company NetVision, renamed to Ubizen in 1999. In that same year, he was nominated "Manager of the year" by Trends. In 2008 he was appointed CEO of the Limburgse Reconversie Maatschappij (LRM). Since 2019, Stijn Bijnenswas the CEO of the Belgian ICT company Cegeka, where he managed to position the company to be one of the leading ICT companies in Belgium and Europe.
Mr. Bijnens brings a wealth of experience in public and private companies with a variety of stakeholders. His relentless focus on customers, technological innovation, value creation and building great teams alongside a constructive dialogue with social partners, is a great match with the Think Possible culture Proximus stands for.
Getting on board as of September 1st 2025, the mission of Stijn Bijnens will be to lead Proximus into a new strategic cycle, continue with his management team to build the best Belgian gigabit network and to consolidate the strong position of Proximus as a recognized leader in the domestic market, both on residential, business and ICT domains and this in a truly customer centric way. Under his lead, together with the future CEO of Proximus Global (for which the search is still ongoing) and his/her management team, Stijn Bijnens will further position the strong international portfolio as an engine of innovation and growth, creating a worldwide leader in digital communications.
