Pro Medicus Management Succession
Leading e-health company Pro Medicus Limited ([ASX:PME] today announced the appointment of Mr David Chambers as the new CEO. Founding and current CEO and 30 percent shareholder, Dr Sam Hupert, will become Deputy Chairman and Executive Director of the company.
“This succession plan is a crucial step in our development. It provides us with an opportunity to enter the next phase of our growth with confidence. We are extremely pleased to have David as our new CEO,” Pro Medicus Chairman Mr Mel Ward said.
“David brings with him an impressive track record of growth and change in the international healthcare market as well as a very sound knowledge of the North American, Australian and Southeast Asian healthcare markets,” he said.
“We have significant opportunities with digital imaging in Australia as well as enormous growth potential in the US and Canada. The appointment of David and our ability to continue to use Sam’s strengths are strong positives for all shareholders.”
“Although my focus will change from operational matters to those of a more strategic nature, I remain fully committed to the company as an executive, as Deputy Chairman and as a major shareholder”, Dr Hupert said. “I will retain a significant day to day executive role within the company focusing on the more medically oriented areas of our business such as customer relations and product design. As deputy chairman my special focus will be on strategy in relation to local and international growth opportunities”.
David Chambers said “I am incredibly excited about this opportunity. I have worked closely with Pro Medicus over the past six years in my role as General Manager and Director of Agfa Healthcare Australia and then as Head of Sales and Marketing with Agfa Healthcare in the US.”
“I have seen Pro Medicus grow from an Australian based operation to one that now has leading edge solutions in the four largest English speaking markets in the world, namely the US, Canada, UK and Australia. My role will be to leverage my experience to build on that base and maximise the growth inherent in these opportunities.”
As Vice President of Sales & Services for Agfa Corporation in the US, Mr Chambers had responsibility for a US$500 million budget and approximately 800 staff. His leadership skills were recognized in 2007 with Agfa HealthCare being awarded the Frost & Sullivan North American Medical Informatics Competitive Strategy Leadership of the Year Award. In his previous role as General Manager – Agfa HealthCare Asia-Pacific (South) he pioneered the adoption of digital imaging in the public sector and led the company’s expansion into India and Southeast Asia.
