WEDNESDAY 28 APRIL 2021
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GRANT TO ADVANCED MOBILITY ANALYTICS GROUP
PPK Group Limited (ASX Code: PPK) is pleased to advise that the Federal Government has provided a grant of $750,000 to Advanced Mobility Analytics Group Pty Ltd (AMAG) to commercialise their AI road safety platform to identify roads at high risk of accidents through analyses of ‘near misses’.
PPK holds a 20% equity stake in AMAG Holdings Australia Pty Ltd following a $1.5 million investment in December 2020 (refer ASX announcement “Investment in Advanced Mobility Analytics Group” dated 16 December 2020).
AMAG is advancing the development of the world’s first Software-as-a-Service (SAAS) using artificial intelligence, video analytics, deep learning and advanced econometric technologies for managing road safety. AMAG has been developed as a partnership between the University of Queensland, University of British Columbia, Queensland University of Technology and commercialisation support from UniQuest.
The Federal Government grant was made under the latest round of the Accelerating Commercialisation grant program which is driving growth in Australia’s manufacturing sector. These matched funding grants are provided to assist companies to “get their outstanding innovations to market, opening up new domestic and export growth opportunities and creating sustainable and high paying jobs for Australian workers”.
AMAG has already secured government customers for its SMART Platform in the United States (the state of Florida and the City of Bellevue, Washington) and Australia, and is currently negotiating with various other cities in Canada, New Zealand and the US. AMAG is forging go-to-market partnerships with several global engineering consulting companies, and enjoys a technology partnership in the US with Microsoft.
AMAG is planning a future that will see seamless integration of LIDAR, video, and connected and automated vehicle data coupled with edge, cloud, and internet-enabled sensor technologies (IoT) into AMAG’s SMART world-leading road safety platform, powered by advanced econometrics, Artificial Intelligence, and data mining techniques. AMAG has secured services of some of the most experienced and recognised road safety experts globally and has joined with leading developers, including with PPK to assist with the global rollout of its road safety solutions.
