Den Haag, 19 april 2012 - PostNL maakt bekend dat Harry Koorstra, CEO van PostNL, heeft besloten met onmiddellijke ingang zijn functie neer te leggen.
"Zo'n besluit neem je niet overnight. De samenwerking met de Raad van Commissarissen is de laatste tijd uiterst moeizaam verlopen onder andere in relatie tot verschil in opvattingen over hoe je de diverse stakeholdersbelangen het best kan dienen. Onder zo'n gesternte, gegeven de uitdagingen waar het bedrijf voor staat, kan en wil ik niet werken. Ik ga weg zonder vertrekregeling omdat wat mij betreft principes voorop staan" aldus Harry Koorstra.
Piet Klaver, Voorzitter van de Raad van Commissarissen: " Wij betreuren het vertrek van Harry. In meer dan 20 jaar heeft Harry een belangrijke bijdrage geleverd in vaak zeer uitdagende omstandigheden. "
De Raad van Commissarissen is voornemens Herna Verhagen, lid van de Raad van Bestuur en verantwoordelijk voor Pakketten en International, te benoemen als de nieuwe CEO van PostNL. Zij heeft bijna 20 jaar ervaring binnen PostNL en heeft verschillende functies vervuld, waarbij klanten en medewerkers centraal stonden; onder andere als Commercieel Directeur en Directeur Personeelszaken.
"Wij zijn ervan overtuigd dat Herna de juiste opvolger is om de uitdagingen die PostNL momenteel kent op te pakken" aldus Piet Klaver.
PostNL verwerkt op jaarbasis zo'n 8,7 miljard geadresseerde poststukken (waarvan 106 miljoen pakketten) met bestemmingen in Benelux, Duitsland, Groot-Brittannië en Italië. PostNL is in de eerste plaats actief op het gebied van post, pakketten en e-commerce. Daarnaast biedt de onderneming ook diensten aan op het gebied van data- en documentmanagement, direct marketing en fulfillment. PostNL heeft in totaal zo'n 65.500 mensen in dienst. In 2011 bedroeg de omzet van PostNL bijna 4,3 miljard euro.

The Hague, 19 April 2012 - PostNL announces that Harry Koorstra, CEO of PostNL, has decided to resign his position with immediate effect.
"Such a decision doesn't get made overnight. The cooperation with the Supervisory Board has been very cumbersome of late, amongst others in relation to differences in opinion about how to serve best the various stakeholders' interests. Under these circumstances, giving the challenges the company faces, I cannot and will not work. I am leaving without any compensation as I consider principles to be of paramount importance" says Harry Koorstra.
Piet Klaver, Chairman of the Supervisory Board: "We regret Harry's departure. During more than twenty years Harry has made a significant contribution in often very challenging circumstances."
The Supervisory Board intends to appoint Herna Verhagen, member of the Board of Management and responsible for Parcels and International, as the new CEO of PostNL. Herna has almost twenty years' experience within PostNL. She has held a variety of positions with a focus on customers and employees such as Commercial Director and Group Director HR. "We are convinced that Herna is the right successor looking at the challenges PostNL currently faces," says Piet Klaver.
PostNL processes 8.7 billion addressed postal items (including 106 million parcels) each year and delivers to addresses in the Benelux, Germany, the UK and Italy. PostNL's main business is mail, parcels and e-commerce. The company also provides services in the area of data and document management, direct marketing and fulfilment. PostNL employs some 65,500 people. In 2011 the company generated a turnover of nearly 4.3 billion euros.
In the event of a discrepancy between the English and the Dutch versions of this press release, the Dutch version will prevail.
