PLANETEL S.P.A. SIGNS A FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT WITH UNIVERSITY OF SALENTO TO FOSTER INNOVATION IN THE FIELD OF SOFTWARE SYSTEMS FOR TELECOMMUNICATIONS

Treviolo (BG), 15 of January 2026 – Planetel S.p.A. ("Planetel"), the parent company of the group of the same name operating nationwide in the telecommunications sector, listed on Euronext Growth Milan, the multilateral trading system organised and run by Borsa Italiana S.p.A., has great pleasure in announcing that it has signed a framework agreement with the Department of Engineering for Innovation of the University of Salento, based in Lecce. This agreement aims to establish a permanent, structured partnership between the company and the academic institution, combining industrial competencies and scientific resources to promote study, research and experimentation projects focusing on technological innovation topics, particularly the challenges of the digital sector and network security infrastructures.

By this move Planetel, leader in the provision of ultra-high speed connectivity services, optic fibre networks and ICT solutions to businesses and consumers, confirms its commitment to open innovation and its synergy with the academic world. The University of Salento, famed for the excellence of its engineering research and its contribution to the technological development of southern Italy, is an ideal partner for accelerating the transfer of knowledge from the lab to the market.

The agreement is grounded in the shared determination to build a lasting, strategic relationship that links academic research to the production sector's real needs. In a more and more competitive economic context, where innovation is a key factor for sustainable growth, this collaboration aims to concentrate on the development of new skills, enable talents to flourish and contribute to the competitiveness of the Italian system as a whole.

Through this partnership, Planetel intends to speed up the adoption of leading-edge technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence applied to networks and solutions for the digital transition, responding to the challenges posed by Italy's National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and European directives on innovation.

The agreement establishes a flexible framework within which specific, targeted projects can be activated. Some of the main forms of collaboration envisaged:

Medium-long term study and research activities, possibly including undergraduate dissertations, PhD theses and grants and exploring innovative themes such as network optimisation and cybersecurity;
Targeted projects on specific topics or needs in the field, with shorter-term actions to resolve operational problems or test prototypes in real settings;
Exchange of information and knowledge on research topics common to both parties, with the organisation of joint workshops, seminars and publications;
Technical and scientific consulting on specific issues or immediate challenges, drawing on academic expertise to support the development of new Planetel services;
Development of common activities through joint workshops, spin-offs or targeted projects, to encourage collaborative innovation;
Research commissioned from the University of Salento directly by Planetel, with a focus on practical applications in the TLC/IT sector;
Joint participation in research programs and projects at the Italian level (e.g. Ministry of Universities and Research or NRRP calls for proposals) and internationally (e.g. Horizon Europe), to attract additional funding and resources..

The framework agreement will initially run for 4 years and may be renewed for a further period of the same length on expiry to guarantee continuity and enable the partnership to evolve.
