Net income for the year 43.1 % more than last year. Earnings per share EUR 2.24. Higher dividend. The leading producer of high-quality vacuum pumps, measuring instruments and complete vacuum systems, announces its full earnings for 2000. Highlights at a glance: 1999 2000 Rise Sales EUR 153.5 million EUR 184.7 million + 20.3 % Orders received EUR 147.8 million EUR 196.8 million + 33.2 % Operating profit (EBIT) EUR 22.9 million EUR 35.5 million + 54.8 % Net income for the year EUR 13.3 million EUR 19.1 million + 43.1 % Earnings per share EUR 1.54 EUR 2.24 + 45.5 % The favorable trend of the first nine months continued in the fourth quarter. Pfeiffer Vacuum’s most important products, turbomolecular pumps, made a decisive contribution to the successful business results. Consistent cost management and a shift in product mix to items with more productive margins yielded a disproportionally higher result compared with 1999. The profit to sales ratio (before tax) rose from 15.5 % in 1999 to 18.4 % in 2000. On the basis of the outstanding business results the company will propose to the General Meeting the distribution of a gross dividend of EUR 0.72 per share / ADR(1999: EUR 0.56). At today’s financial press conference and at the following analysts’ conference in Frankfurt, President and CEO Wolfgang Dondorf will also present a forecast for the current financial year. Once again it was possible to increase orders received and turnover by two-digit percentages in the first two months of the year.
