Tony D’Aloisio to succeed Peter Scott as Perpetual Chairman

Perpetual Limited has announced the appointment of Tony D’Aloisio as Chairman-elect, effective today, with Chairman Peter Scott to retire from the position on 31 May 2017.

Mr Scott joined the Perpetual Board in 2005 and became Chairman in 2010. When appointed Chairman, Mr Scott agreed to extend his tenure until 2017 to ensure continuity in the role.

Mr Scott said he was delighted Mr D’Aloisio had agreed to join the Board and succeed him as Chairman.

"It has been my great privilege to be Chairman of Perpetual, an outstanding Australian company with strong values reflecting its deep fiduciary heritage,” said Mr Scott.

“I am confident Tony will be a real asset for Perpetual, with his extensive experience in financial services and having been a CEO of a listed company. Mr D’Aloisio said it was an honour to join the Perpetual Board as Chairman-elect and he was looking forward to working with the Board and management team.

“Peter Scott has done an outstanding job and I am eagerly anticipating our time together as I transition to be Chairman of Perpetual next year,” Mr D’Aloisio said.

Tony D’Aloisio AM

Chairman-elect and Independent Director

Tony D’Aloisio has served in both executive and non-executive roles in commercial and government enterprises. He has held roles of Chief Executive, Chairman and Board member in local and international organisations involved in financial markets and professional services. Among other non-executive positions, he is currently Chairman of IRESS Limited, a Board member of PPB Advisory and of Aikenhead Centre for Medical Discovery Ltd and President of the European Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre.

Mr D’Aloisio was appointed a Commissioner for the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) in 2006 and Chairman in 2007 for a four-year term. He was Chairman of the (International) Joint Forum of the Basel Committee on banking supervision from 20092011. Prior to joining ASIC he was CEO and MD at the Australian Securities Exchange from 2004-2006. Mr D’Aloisio was Chief Executive Partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques between 1992-2004 having first joined the firm in 1977.
