Appointment of new Chief Financial Officer

Origin Energy Limited (Origin) today announced the appointment of Tony Lucas as Chief Financial Officer, effective from 1 July 2024.

Mr Lucas is currently the Executive General Manager of Origin’s Future Energy and Technology division, and has worked in a number of executive positions within the company over 22 years.

Mr Lucas has more than 30 years’ experience across finance, strategy, transactions, risk, regulatory policy and advocacy, technology and innovation, and has been part of Origin’s Executive Leadership Team since 2016. He holds a Diploma in Business Studies and a Masters of Applied Finance from Macquarie University.

The appointment of Mr Lucas follows the previously announced decision of current Chief Financial Officer, Lawrie Tremaine, to retire from Origin after seven years with the company.

Origin CEO Frank Calabria said, “I am delighted to have Tony moving into the role of Chief Financial Officer. Tony brings extensive strategy and leadership experience and deep knowledge of the energy industry and our business after over two decades at Origin.

“Since 2016, Tony has led the development of Origin’s Energy Markets strategy and the future portfolio of energy solutions and innovation engine. He is responsible for finance and commercial in the Energy Markets business, along with the enterprise-wide information technology function. Tony has led the design and implementation of a world-class data and analytics capability at Origin to support both future innovation and business operations,” Mr Calabria said.

Mr Lucas said, “I am honoured to be appointed to the CFO role as Origin continues towards its ambition of leading the energy transition. I believe Origin is well placed to achieve its strategic agenda, and Lawrie’s contribution has been critical in this. I am fortunate that I inherit from him a strong balance sheet and capital management framework that gives us a solid foundation from which to continue to grow. I look forward to the challenges and opportunities the new role will bring.”

Mr Lucas’ appointment follows a rigorous recruitment process involving a number of highquality candidates. Mr Tremaine will retire from the Chief Financial Officer role on 30 June 2024, but will remain with Origin until the end of July to enable a smooth transition.
