NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT

Monarch Gold Mining Company (ASX:MON) this week announced the appointment of experienced mining operations manager, Ian Huitson as Managing Director.

Mr Huitson has more than 20 years experience in the mining industry with specific experience in gold, as well as nickel, manganese and chromite.

He has held senior management positions with organisations including WMC, Plutonic and Consolidated Minerals in both site-based and corporate roles, and has been Operations Director of Monarch Gold since May 2007.

Monarch Chairman Michael Kiernan said Ian has a suite of experience which would help the Company deliver on its operational and growth objectives.

“Ian has first rate credentials in managing mining operations, with specific experience in gold, and he knows the Monarch operations well,” Mr Kiernan said.

“He has a mix of strong technical understanding and management expertise, and is well placed to drive the proposed production ramp-up at Monarch and deliver value for shareholders,” he said.

Mr Huitson’s appointment is upon the same terms and conditions as previously disclosed in the Company’s Annual Report 2007 which, in accordance with the Company’s remuneration policy, consists of base pay and longer-term incentive components to align the interests of executives to those of shareholders.
