Dr John Stocker to retire as a director of Circadian after the AGM

The Board of Directors of Circadian (ASX:CIR) today announced that Dr John Stocker will not be seeking re-election as a director of the company at its AGM to be held on 14 November 2008 and will be retiring effective from that date.

Circadian was fortunate to secure Dr Stocker as a board member in May 1996 when Australia’s biotechnology sector was in its infancy. He brought to the company his many years of experience in scientific and medical research and innovation through his roles at Hoffman-La Roche, the CSIRO, Cambridge Antibody Technology (now part of Astra Zeneca UK Limited), amongst others, and as former Commonwealth Government Chief Scientist.

Dr John Stocker said, “It has been a privilege to serve on the Circadian board and I wish the directors and management team great success as the company continues to sharpen its focus on developing the considerable opportunities presented by the Vegenics’ portfolio for cancer therapeutics.”

Circadian chairman, Ms Dominique Fisher, said “We are grateful for the wisdom and insights John has provided to the company and his fellow directors over the past 12 years. He has been a great mentor and we have been very fortunate to work with him and draw from his vast experience in science and the commercialisation of it.”
