OHB Teledata AG english

Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Acquisition of 51% stake in the profit-maker megatel GmbH Access to Geographic Information System (GIS) for police, fire brigade and insurance companies Bremen, 26.9.2001 OHB Teledata AG is systematically continuing its expansion strategy. This high- technology corporation has acquired 51% of megatel GmbH of Bremen. megatel is a well-known service provider for the production of precision maps and road maps along with the databases belonging to them and is operating profitably with a sales turnover in 2001 of about DM 4 million. This acquisition means that OHB Teledata will have direct access to up-to-date map information as used for example by environment or planning offices, insurance companies, fire brigades and police. Existing OHB telematics products will be supplemented by these precision data, thus increasing in turn the applications potential of the products. In the train of the recent acts of violence, highest priority is being given to precision in telematics and monitoring. megatel is one of the leading companies in the sector of electronic scan cartography (satellite photographs and aerial pictures). The company is capable, for example, of developing and producing detailed map systems of non-urbanised territory on the basis of satellite pictures. It is even possible for the conventional commercial user to precisely identify individual buildings. Moving objects such as, for example, trams in the public transport system can be identified and tracked in the streets in which they are located at the moment. Insurance companies use systems such as these to reduce costs for example in the case of accidents by efficient accident damage processing. In addition, OHB Teledata is extending its know-how in the database sector by the acquisition of megatel. Over and above the existing access to the Microsoft database product, this newest acquisition will also enable cooperation with clients who have tuned their software to the ORACLE database. megatel is an ORACLE certified solution partner. end of ad-hoc-announcement (c)DGAP 26.09.2001 ——————————————————————————– WKN: 593612; Index: Listed: Neuer Markt in Frankfurt; Freiverkehr in Berlin, Bremen, Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover, München und Stuttgart 260730 Sep 01
