MotoGP motorcycles race with NORMA Group joining technology products
Maintal, Germany, 27 June 2016 – NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, supplies ABA Original Worm-Drive Hose Clamps made of stainless steel for MotoGP racing motorcycles. The clamps connect the lines of the cooling system in the motorcycles.
The racing motorcycles of the MotoGP Class are strictly prototypes with four-cycle engines and without turbochargers. MotoGP is the highest prototype category of the Road World Championship of the Federation of International Motorcycling FIM. According to the regulations, the engines of the motorcycles are limited to a displacement of maximum 1000 cc with an output of about 265 hp. The cladding of the racing motorcycles consists of carbon fibre-reinforced plastic. Thereby, the overall weight can be reduced to 157 kilograms.
“In motor sport, where every hundredth of a second is crucial at the end, it is often the small, invisible components that contribute to success,” says Werner Deggim, CEO of NORMA Group. “For this reason, we consider our joining products to be functionally critical since they contribute to enabling maximum performance on the road through their very high quality, performance and reliability.”
The ABA Original Worm-Drive Hose Clamp with its high-strength, one-piece pressed housing, offers high elasticity and high breaking torque. Rounded band edges and the smooth inside of the band ensure particularly high protection for the hoses. The ABA Original clamp has a bandwidth of 12 mm and is available in various sizes from 15 to 307 millimetres. The clamp is produced at NORMA Group’s plant in Anderstorp, Sweden.
