NORMA Group wins major contract from French motor vehicle manufacturer

Courcouronnes, France, December 21, 2016 – NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, will be supplying urea lines to a French motor vehicle manufacturer. From 2019, up to 1.5 million custom-made plastic pipes will be installed annually in around 550,000 cars and commercial vehicles. Serial production will begin in 2018 at the site in Subotica, Serbia.

“We are very pleased with the major contract which further expands our market position in France,” says Werner Deggim, CEO of NORMA Group. “Ever-stricter exhaust gas standards are driving demand for our urea lines. The piping systems made from special weight-reduced plastics meet the high demands on temperature stability and service life thanks to improved material selection.”

NORMA Group engineers, as part of the local development team, adapt the products individually to the specific requirements of the French manufacturer’s car models. The fluid lines will be delivered to the customer preformed and be easily installable in vehicles thanks to multi-part pipe lengths. Coupling elements connect the pipes without leakage.

Urea lines transport a urea solution known by the names AUS32, AdBlue(R), Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) and ARLA, amongst others. It is used for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) in the exhaust line, which almost completely converts nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines. The line is electrically heated internally so that the frozen urea solution thaws even at the lowest outside temperatures and can be quickly injected into the discharge zone by means of a high-pressure injector.
