NORMA Group endows Assistant Professorship at Frankfurt School with support of the Stifterverband

Frankfurt am Main/Maintal, Germany, 5 February 2015 – NORMA Group, a global market leader in engineered joining technology, is endowing an Assistant Professorship in Manufacturing at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. Initially, the endowment will cover a provisional five-year period, with an interim assessment after three years. If the outcome of the assessment is positive, the term will be extended by another three years, adding up to a total of six years. The new professorship will also be funded by the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft, a business community initiative advocating long-term improvement of the German education and research landscape. The association has agreed to include the Assistant Professorship in its programme. NORMA Group has been a member of the Stifterverband since 2012.

NORMA Group and Frankfurt School already have a close working relationship – senior NORMA Group executives from around the world regularly attend the General Management and High Potential programmes run by Frankfurt School. Furthermore, NORMA Group sponsors the Manufacturing Management Award for students on Frankfurt School’s Master in Management M.Sc. programme. The award was presented for the first time in autumn 2014, at the business school’s annual graduation ceremony.

“It is always a pleasure to work with Frankfurt School, not least because they have put us in touch with highly motivated, well-educated students and graduates who have later joined our company as colleagues. We also very much appreciate the excellent and inspiring theory-practice dialogue we regularly hold with members of the faculty,” said Werner Deggim, CEO of NORMA Group. “We watch Frankfurt School’s ongoing development, international expansion and research attainments with the greatest of interest, and it gives us great pleasure to be able to assist the business school in achieving its goals.”

Professor Dr Udo Steffens, President and CEO of Frankfurt School, is delighted by the agreement. “At Frankfurt School, we are steadily expanding the range of teaching and research resources devoted to management issues, and by sponsoring an Assistant Professorship, NORMA Group is helping us to take another big step forward. I would like to thank everybody at NORMA Group for their generous support!”
