PRESS RELEASE
NorCom gaining top Turkish 24-hour news channel TGRT as a customer.
NorCom successfully positioned for further expansion in the Middle East
Munich, July 16, 2008 - Listed Munich-based company NorCom Infor-mation
Technology AG (ISIN DE000525 0302) has gained Turkish news channel TGRT
Haber TV, Istanbul, as a new customer. With its editorial, technical and
price advantages, NorCom successfully prevailed over the competition and
will now be installing the NCPower Pro media management system for TGRT.
A 24-hour TV news channel, TGRT is a member of the renowned IHLAS Holding
Group and broadcasts well researched and objective news and re-ports around
the clock true to the motto 'news and nothing but the news'. TGRT is the
first IHLAS Holding company to implement NorCom’s NCPower Pro management
system which comprises the NCIngest, NCArchive, NCProduction, NCDistribute
and NCPlayout modules.
The contract is valued at a six-digit sum and is expected to generate
fol-low-up business.
IHLAS Holding is one of the top media companies in Turkey and also owns
the influential Middle East news agency IHA, the radio broadcaster TGRT FM,
the Internet service provider Ihlas Net and the Turkish daily newspaper
Türkiye, among other things. As part of IHLAS Media Holding, TGRT is
striving to unlock synergistic benefits amongst the IHLAS media compa-nies.
Accordingly, the contract with TGRT marks an important milestone in
NorCom’s expansion strategy. 'Turkey is the gateway to the Middle East.
This is why this contract is of particular geostrategic importance for us,'
explains Viggo Nordbakk, CEO of NorCom.
NCPower Pro: A unique multimedia platform
Using NCPower Pro, TGRT is able to provide its journalists with a highly
modern platform allowing efficient allocation of tasks and a uniform
edito-rial workflow. NCPower Pro is a planning, production, editorial and
man-agement system handling all multimedia content as well as providing
pow-erful archiving and research functions. The individual modules allow
the separate steps in the workflow - i.e. digitization and data import,
archiving, production and editing, transfer and transmission - to be
sequenced seam-lessly, thus preventing media discontinuity. The multimedia
content gener-ated using NCPower Pro is broadcast not only via conventional
TV stations but can also be transmitted in the form of IPTV (Internet
Protocol Televi-sion), VOD (video on demand) and Mobile TV (television
programs on mo-bile telephones). NorCom is the only vendor to offer an
end-to-end system which has been designed for both the Windows and Apple
operating sys-tem. NCPower can adjust flexibly to accommodate journalists’
individual work-flows.
NorCom placing store by long-term local partnerships
NorCom is entering foreign markets via long-term partnerships. This
strat-egy has again proved its merits in this case. 'We see strong
potential in the Turkish market which we want to harness with the
assistance of our partner’s extensive market knowledge and excellent
networks,' explains Nordbakk. 'We are confident that this preliminary
contract in Turkey - bringing the total for the Middle East to three - will
generate further busi-ness in this region,' he adds.
