At around € 5.7 million, consolidated revenues in the first quarter of 2006 were up 16% compared with around € 4.9 million last year. At the earnings level, the NorCom Group achieved an EBITDA of around € 597.000, compared with 384.400 € in the 1st quarter of 2005. After deducting depreciation and amortization, EBIT came in at around € 362,620 following on from the break-even figure achieved in the year-ago quarter. All told, revenues and earnings were already very strong in the first quarter even though the coming quarters are traditionally the busier ones. As the year progresses, NorCom expects generally positive business performance and will be systematically extending its market position in the media and broadcasting segments. A key milestone in efforts to extend the NCPower product suite was achieved in the first quarter of 2006, when the NorCom Group signed a contract with the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation for the delivery of a new type of comprehensive digital music archive. What makes this new system so innovative is that the entire management of music data including the digital input and archiving is handled within a homogenous process chain and controlled via a uniform user interface. According to a study by Frost & Sullivan, digital archives have a potential market value of around USD 1.2 billion in the broadcast sector over the next three years. Additional growth potential will be harnessed from a partnership venture forged in April 2006 with one of the leading operators of IPTV technologies. NorCom plans to supplement its newsroom system with IPTV functions and to enter the emerging IPTV market. At the world’s largest media fair in April (NAB in Las Vegas), NorCom unveiled the Apple News Production System for the first time. As a result, it is the world’s first company to offer a fully Apple-based production solution including video, audio, graphics and automation. NorCom and Apple will be embarking on an extensive road show in May and June covering 16 European cities and 26 dates to ensure a successful launch for this product.
