Norcod primed for uplisting to Oslo Stock Exchange

Aquaculture industry experts Trine Danielsen and Renate Larsen to join Board of Directors of Norwegian cod-farming venture as it prepares to migrate from the Euronext Growth market to the main list of the Oslo Stock Exchange.

Current board chairman Marit Solberg, together with board members Boe Spurre and Tore Tønseth, will not be standing for re-election at Norcod's ordinary general meeting this week.

"It has been fantastic to participate in the rebuilding of the farmed cod industry and be witness to the success Norcod has achieved so far. The company is in an excellent position, and I am happy to pass on responsibility to the new board. I am confident that Trine and Renate can contribute greatly to Norcod's further development," said Solberg.

Stepping up as new chairman is Jan Severin Sølbek, who is majority owner of Norcod and has been involved in the company as an investor since 2019.

Trine Danielsen is currently Chief Commercial Officer of aquaculture industry organisation Blueplanet Academy AS and has vast experience of fish farming around the world and related policymaking. She earlier served as state secretary in Norway's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, and from 2011 to 2015 was mayor of Hjelmeland Municipality, one of the largest aquaculture communities in Rogaland County.

"Aquaculture is the only sustainable means of increasing seafood supply to meet the food needs of the world's growing population. Responsible cod farming will be a big part of that story and I am very proud to be joining the board of a company committed to the highest sustainability standards. I look forward to working alongside the tremendous team they have built up, both in leadership and skilled technicians on the ground," said Danielsen.

Larsen has been CEO of the Norwegian Seafood Council for the past six years and also comes armed with deep knowledge of the seafood industry, including as CFO and subsequently Managing Director of salmon producer Lerøy Aurora AS. She has extensive board experience from both state and private companies.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Norcod board and will do all I can to support the company during the next stages of its development. They have come a long way already and the future looks very bright, in terms of premium biomass, value-chain partnerships and strong demand for a firstclass product," she said.

Their outstanding experience and insight from fish farming and the Norwegian seafood industry will be invaluable for our further growth. Norcod has finalized its first full production cycle and is set to begin harvesting its second cycle in the third quarter of this year. It will also be putting its third cycle of cod into the sea phase this summer.

Norcod klare for hovedlisten på Oslo Børs

Akvakulturekspertene Trine Danielsen og Renate Larsen blir styremedlemmer i det norske torskeoppdrettsselskapet i forkant av Norcods migrasjon fra Euronext Growth til hovedlisten på Oslo Børs.

Nåværende styreleder Marit Solberg, samt styremedlemmene Boe Spurre og Tore Tønseth, står ikke til gjenvalg under Norcods ordinære generalforsamling denne uken.

-Det har vært fantastisk å delta i gjenoppbyggingen av torskeoppdrettsbransjen og være vitne til suksessen Norcod har opplevd så langt. Selskapet er i en glimrende posisjon, og jeg er glad for å kunne overlate ansvaret til det nye styret. Jeg er sikker på at Trine og Renate kan bidra i betydelig grad til ytterligere utvikling av Norcod, sa Solberg.

Den som tar skrittet opp og blir ny styreleder, er Norcods majoritetseier Jan Severin Sølbæk. Han har vært involvert i selskapet som investor siden 2019.

Trine Danielsen er kommersiell direktør i akvakultur-organisasjonen Blueplanet Academy AS, og har utstrakt, global erfaring med både fiskeoppdrett og oppdrettspolitikk. Hun har tidligere vært statssekretær i Nærings- og fiskeridepartementet, og fra 2011 til 2015 var hun ordfører i Hjelmeland kommune, en av de største akvakultur-kommunene i Rogaland fylke.

-Akvakultur er den eneste bærekraftige metoden for å øke sjømatforsyningen til verdens stadig voksende befolkning. Ansvarlig torskeoppdrett vil bli en viktig del av den historien, og jeg er svært stolt av å bli styremedlem i et selskap satser på de høyeste bærekraftstandardene. Jeg ser fram til å arbeide sammen med det fantastiske teamet de har bygget opp, både i lederskap og med dyktige teknikere på anleggene, sa Danielsen.

Renate Larsen har vært adm.dir. i Norges Sjømatråd de siste seks årene, og har også stor kunnskap om sjømatbransjen, både som økonomisjef og senere adm.dir. for lakseprodusenten Lerøy Aurora AS. Larsen har utstrakt styreerfaring fra både statlige og private selskaper.

-Jeg gleder meg til å bli med i Norcods styre, og jeg vil gjøre mitt ytterste for å hjelpe selskapet gjennom de neste stegene i utviklingen. De har allerede kommet langt, og fremtiden ser svært lys ut, da selskapet både har biomasse av høy kvalitet, verdikjede-partnerskap og sterk etterspørsel etter et førsteklasses produkt, sa Larsen.

-Vi er svært godt fornøyd med at Renate og Trine har akseptert invitasjonen til å bli styremedlemmer. Deres enestående erfaring og ekspertise fra fiskeoppdrett og den norske sjømatindustrien vil være uvurderlige for vår videre vekst. Det er en stor fjær i hatten for oss å ha dem med på laget, sa Norcods adm.dir., Christian Riber.

Norcod har fullført sin første produksjonssyklus og planlegger å starte levering av sin andre syklus i tredje kvartal i år. Sjøfasen for selskapets tredje syklus oppdrettstorsk starter i sommer.
