NEXUS AG won the bid for restructuring the national healthcare system
involving one of the most important investment projects in Saudi Arabia.
The NEXUS-Solution was the winner in an international call for bids for
digitalizing the hospitals in Saudi Arabia. Every tenth of all health
facilities in the country will be supported by the hospital information
system NEXUS / MEDFOLIO in the future, which depicts all medical processes
and workflows.

The go-ahead for the installation of NEXUS / MEDFOLIO in Saudi Arabia was
given at an official ceremony. Within the framework of a conference of
the Medical Service Division (MSD) of the Saudi Defense Ministry, Crown
Prince Sultan ibn Abd al-Aziz started operation of the first hospital
information system in the presence of the German and Swedish ambassadors on
April, 2nd.
The Saudi Arabian Defense Ministry asked for an IT solution for all medical
and administrative processes in hospitals in the international call for
bids and awarded the contract to NEXUS AG with a volume of 6.5 euros -
additionally expansion. All medical, nursing, financial and diagnostic
processes will be digitalized with NEXUS / MEDFOLIO in 20 hospitals in five
regions of the country in the future. The goal of the project is to
establish a uniform, national system of patient files in the hospitals of
MSD, with which the data of each individual patient can be accessed from
every site. All patient data are generated once in the system and made
available to all other MSD hospitals. Patients are stored in the system
uniquely and one time via a Master Patient Index (MPI), which prevents
double records. Data are exchanged continually between the hospitals to
ensure they are up-to-date.
In addition, uniform quality standards are created in documentation of
medical treatment processes, which do justice to quality assurance issues
that will become increasing important in the future. The NEXUS software
also enables setting up country-wide system for drug prescriptions as well
as a digital overview, with which the status of drug dispensing and
capacity can be checked in the individual institutions at any time.
The installation of NEXUS / MEDFOLIO also provides an effective information
and communication system in the hospitals, which are at distances of up to
1,000 kilometers apart in some cases. NEXUS is delegating some staff
members for the project, who will be on site at all times.

NEXUS develops and sells IT solutions for health care systems. These
solutions make it possible for hospitals and rehabilitation institutions to
convert to digital patient information. More than 250 staff members in the
NEXUS Group develop software and IT solutions, with which approximately
54,000 users in 17 countries work.
