Appointment of Non-Executive Director

Newmark Security plc (AIM: NWT), a leading provider of electronic and physical security systems, is pleased to announce the appointment of Terence Yap as an independent Non-Executive Director, with immediate effect.

Terence is currently the Chairman of Guardforce AI Co. Ltd ("Guardforce AI"), a group focusing on delivering technologically innovative security solutions within the Asia Pacific region. Guardforce AI was established in 2018 and in the same year acquired Guardforce Cash Solutions (Thailand), a cash-in-transit business established in 1982 and which was formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of G4S Plc.

He was previously Chief Executive Officer of the Guardforce Group, a leading security solution provider with more than 12,000 employees with operations in Hong Kong, Australia, Macau and Thailand. Prior to joining the Guardforce Group, Mr. Yap was the Chief Financial Officer of China Security and Surveillance Technology, Inc. (listed on both the NYSE and Dubai International Financial Exchange from 2007 to 2011) from 2006 to 2014. He was instrumental in transforming the business from a security equipment assembler/manufacturer into a service provider with strong recurring cashflows.

Mr. Yap has more than 25 years' experience in various industries including Telecommunications, Security and Smart Cities Development. Over the years, he has developed specific skill sets that have facilitated Change Management, Investor Relations, Capital Market Operations, Corporate Restructuring, Profit & Loss Ownership/Responsibilty and People Management.

He is resident in Hong Kong, is a Singapore citizen and a former Army Officer. Mr Yap is a graduate of BBUS (Accounting & Finance), from the Swinburne University of Technology, Victoria, Australia and an MBA graduate from the Chinese University Hong Kong. He is a member of the Hong Kong Security Services Training Board, a Fellow member of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, a Fellow member of the Chartered Management Institute (UK) and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
