European broadcaster selects Net Insight's Nimbra platform for video contribution feeds from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games

Stockholm, Sweden – Net Insight, a leading provider of efficient optical transport solutions for media, broadcast and IP networks has received an order of the Nimbra platform for a contribution network to carry video feeds from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter games.

This European broadcaster is now deploying a transatlantic contribution network to support their Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games coverage.

The network will carry video, audio and data feeds from multiple sites in Canada over a fiber link to Europe. The services, including uncompressed HD-SDI, AES/EBU, ASI and Ethernet data, will be transported in parallel over Nimbra 680 switches.

This will be the broadcaster's first international transmission of live uncompressed HD streams and their regular national HDTV broadcasting will commence in conjunction with the opening of the Vancouver Olympics Winter Games.

The module delivers a cost-effective multi-purpose solution for video streams that require a mix of compressed and uncompressed HD and SD content from a single venue, such as sports arenas and editing trucks.

The Nimbra equipment will be delivered during September 2009.
