Paris, 17 April 2023
Neoen (ISIN Code: FR0011675362, Ticker: NEOEN), the leading French independent producer of exclusively renewable energy announces that it has been awarded 49.8 MWp of solar projects in the latest call for tenders by the French government's Energy Regulation Commission (CRE). Neoen was the biggest winner in the "canopies and buildings" category with its solar canopies project for Lyon airport and secondbiggest in the "ground-mounted" category with its Tournissan project. In line with the company's business model, Neoen is the majority shareholder of each of the two projects.
The solar canopies project, initiated by Vinci Airports, will be installed on 14 ha of parking canopies at the Lyon-Saint-Exupéry airport (Rhône). It has been developed by Neoen in partnership with SunMind, VINCI Concessions fully owned solar energy subsidiary. Construction is set to begin in 2023, with commissioning scheduled for summer 2024.
In Occitanie, the Tournissan solar farm (30 MWp, Aude) has involved close cooperation with the local government in the Lézignanaise, Corbières and Minervois region. It will generate around 40 GWh per year, equivalent to the annual consumption of around 15,000 people (heating included).
Guillaume Decaen, French Development Director, said: "I would like to thank our teams, which have once again helped make Neoen the biggest winner in the French government's call for tenders. Although an error in the running of the tender meant only part of the capacity could be allocated, we are nonetheless delighted to have secured almost 50 MW. The government has announced it will soon launch a second call for tenders to allocate the full capacity and Neoen stands ready to submit the projects that were not selected in the first session."
Xavier Barbaro, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Neoen, concluded: "I would like to thank our team for this new success, which strengthens our position as the leading French independent producer of renewable energy. In an electricity market that has undergone a real paradigm shift, Neoen will continue to move forward in France and other regions to provide even more green, local and competitive electricity."
