NCC Construction has been commissioned by the Western Region of the Swedish Road Administration to extend the section of the E6 Expressway between Solhem and Pålen in northern Bohuslän. The order is worth about SEK 320 million and work on the project will commence immediately.
The project is a further phase of efforts to increase road safety and modernize the E6 through what was previously an accident-prone Bohuslän. The expansion will also shorten travel time and safeguard transportation times and distribution routes.
In addition to construction of a four-kilometer section of four-lane highway, the project includes construction of two bridges, one small and one much larger bridge.
The latter object, which will take the form of a composite girder bridge, will be a full 600 meters long, have a span of 70 meters between the supports and a height of 50 meters above the river Hudälven.
Project engineering will start immediately and construction work will commence around yearend. Traffic on the new stage will open by midsummer of 2010, while the contract work is scheduled for completion no later than May 15, 2011.
The contract will be registered among orders during the fourth quarter of 2007.
