NCC Construction Denmark has been commissioned to refurbish the facades of 25 apartment blocks in Ishöj, southern Copenhagen, thus reducing the buildings' carbon footprint. The client is Det sociale Boligselskab af 29 jan. 1946 and the order value is approximately SEK 220 million.
The Vildtbanegård 2 area comprises a total of 817 apartments in 25 buildings. NCC is to refurbish the facades of 648 apartments that have not been upgraded since the properties were built in 1974. The other 169 apartments in the area were built in the 1990s and will not be affected by the refurbishment.
In addition to new insulation and facade cladding, the apartments will have glassed balconies. In its preliminary planning, NCC has focused on combating the existing cold bridges, which reduce the temperature of the apartments and increase the risk of damp-related damage. NCC will also be constructing new dust barriers and wind barriers, which will contribute to reducing the risk of damp and enable the new facades to generate extra energy savings. The ventilation systems will also be remodeled to improve the indoor environment of residents.
Work will commence during the month of June and is scheduled for completion in February 2011. The order amount will be registered in the second quarter of 2009.
