NCC secures strategic road services contracts in Norway worth SEK 660 million

NCC Roads in Norway has signed three contracts with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration concerning operation and maintenance of roads. The combined value of the contracts is approximately SEK 660 million and the assignments are of considerable strategic importance to NCC Roads in Norway.

The contracts with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration comprise responsibility for operation and maintenance of European roads, highways, county roads and pedestrian and bicycle paths. Including the new contracts, NCC has a total of 12 central government contracts, making it the third largest player in the Norwegian market, with responsibility for a total of 7,000 kilometers of roads.

"We're delighted to have secured these new operation and maintenance contracts. Road services are a strategically important area for NCC Roads," says Trond Schjetne, in charge of Road Services at NCC Roads in Norway.

Two of the contracts secured in 2008 are completely new ones for NCC Roads. The third contract, the Ringeriks Contract, is a renewal of a contract for a further five years. The Ringeriks Contract is worth approximately SEK 250 million.

The new contracts are for Nordhordland in the County of Hordaland, and the Gjøvik-Toten area of Oppland County. The contract for Nordhordland is worth SEK 250 million and comprises 814 kilometers of roads. The contract for Gjøvik-Toten is worth SEK 160 million and comprises 608 kilometers of roads.

The assignments for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration include plowing, snow clearance, sanding and minor maintenance works on and along the roads. They also include maintenance of green areas and signs, and upkeep of rest areas.

The contracts will be registered among orders in the second quarter of 2008. Work under the contracts will commence on September 1 and extend over five years.
