Nabaltec AG receives Stifterverband’s “Innovative through Research” seal

Schwandorf, 09 August 2016 – As an innovative chemicals company, Nabaltec AG’s company strategy is focused on research activities for the development of trailblazing products for the industry. The company’s flame retardant fillers are used e.g. for cables in tunnels, airports and high-rise buildings. Nabaltec also produces technical ceramics as base materials for the refractory industry. Now the Schwandorf-based company has been awarded the “Innovative through Research” seal from the Stifterverband association for its efforts in the field of research and development. This is the second award Nabaltec AG has received this year for innovation and research.

Johannes Heckmann, Member of the Board of Nabaltec AG, stated as follows: “The quality seal from Stifterverband is the second distinction we have received this year recognizing our efforts in the field of research and development and our innovative achievements. Like the ‘TOP 100’ award which we received in July, we owe the ‘Innovative through Research’ seal above all to our team of employees, who work with extraordinary dedication to develop new ideas and continually improve our products.”

The quality seal is the result of a survey conducted by Stifterverband in which Nabaltec AG took part. This survey, conducted at the behest of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, routinely collects data about corporate research and development activities. The results of this survey are important as a basis for policymaking in particular, such as developing stimulus programs and shaping conditions for the conduct of research in Germany.

Nabaltec AG, with registered office in Schwandorf, a chemicals business which has received multiple awards for innovativeness, manufactures, develops and distributes highly specialized products based on aluminum hydroxide (“ATH”) and aluminum oxide, as well as other raw materials, on an industrial scale through its “Functional Fillers” and “Technical Ceramics” divisions. The company’s product range includes halogen-free flame retardant fillers and eco-friendly additives for the plastics industry. Flame retardant fillers are used e.g. in cables in tunnels, airports, high-rise buildings and electronic devices, while additives replace stabilizers containing heavy metals in PVC processing. Nabaltec also produces base materials for use in technical ceramics, the refractory industry and catalysis. Unlike halogenated flame retardant fillers, the products manufactured by the company’s “Functional Fillers” division contain no hazardous substances and do not require separate disposal. Rather, the company’s flame retardant fillers actually decrease the development of fumes hazardous to human health and the environment in the event of fire. Nabaltec maintains production sites in Germany and the US and plans to continue to develop its market position by expanding capacity, further optimizing processes and quality and making strategic extensions to its product range.
