Miles Hampton appointed as Chairman of MyState Limited
Hobart, Wednesday, 30 October 2013:
MyState Limited today announced that Miles Hampton has been appointed as Chairman of the Company. Mr Hampton takes over from Dr Michael Vertigan AC who stepped down as a Director and Chairman following MyState Limited’s annual general meeting yesterday.
Mr Hampton said, “Mike Vertigan leaves the company in a very strong position, and on behalf of my fellow directors, staff, and shareholders I sincerely thank him for the outstanding leadership he has provided, initially as Chairman of Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees Ltd and following the merger with MyState Financial in 2009, as Chairman of MyState Limited.”
Dr Vertigan said, “My time at MyState Limited has been a thoroughly rewarding experience. The merger of MyState Financial and Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees has proven very successful and the acquisition of The Rock has positioned MyState as a stronger interstate group and provided access to the growing economy of central Queensland.
“I would like to thank John Gilbert and our staff in Tasmania and Queensland for their excellent contributions to the Company’s success, and our shareholders for their support. I would also like to express my personal gratitude to my fellow directors for their commitment and support during my tenure. Finally, I wish Miles Hampton, and the Company every success in the future.”
Mr Hampton added, “I look forward to working with my fellow directors, the Company’s management and our committed staff to continue to improve our service, seek growth opportunities, and realise the potential of the company.”
Mr Hampton, has been a Director of Tasmanian Perpetual Trustees Limited since July 2006. He was appointed a Director of MyState Financial and subsidiary companies in September 2009 and was appointed a Director of The Rock Building Society Limited in December 2011.
Mr Hampton is Chairman of the MyState Limited Board’s Group Risk Committee and is a member of the Group Audit Committee.
Mr Hampton was Managing Director of ASX listed agribusiness and real estate public company, Roberts Limited from 1987 until 2006. He is currently a Director of Australian Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, the Van Diemen’s Land Company, and is Chairman of

TasWater and the Mather Foundation. Mr Hampton has previously been a Director of public companies Ruralco Holdings Ltd, Wentworth Holdings Ltd, HMA Ltd and Gibsons Ltd and was a Director of Impact Fertilisers Pty Ltd and Forestry Tasmania.
