US Veteran Canteen Services’ retail chain selects SECOS to supply MyEcoPet™ compostable bag range

Highlights

• The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs’ Veteran Canteen Services (“VCS”) has selected SECOS to supply its MyEcoPet™ compostable waste bag products into 97 stores throughout the USA;

• Volume will be subject to instore sales however with over 90 million dogs in the US alone demand for compostable pet waste bags is expected to be strong;

• The launch of SECOS’ pet waste bags under its own brand called MyEcoPet™ into the USA market follows its recent success in supplying Woolworths in Australia with its MyEcoBag™ product range;

• SECOS’ strategy is to launch its MyEcoPet Brand into the US and is in discussion with other major US distributors and retail chains;

• The US launch will be supported by social media, trade show exhibits, and other marketing efforts;

• SECOS has manufactured and delivered for sale over 50 million dog waste bags in the US to date;

• SECOS plans to follow its MyEcoPet launch into the US by offering other compostable products to major US distributors and retail chains.

The Board of sustainable and eco-friendly Biopolymer producer SECOS Group Limited (ASX: SES, “SECOS” or “the Company”) is pleased to inform the market that following the launch of MyEcoBag™ in Woolworths Australia, the Company has expanded its ‘MyEco’ brand in the United States and will pursue expansion to other geographic markets. This expansion is driven by consumers wishing to reduce the use of traditional plastic and to utilize compostable alternatives.

The USA has ninety[1] million dogs in more than 63 million households, and dog ownership has increased by approximately 30% since 2000. This market is growing rapidly in terms of retail spending, and we see a number of retailers who have been on the periphery of the pet supply market, now wishing to expand their product offering in dog merchandise and supplies. Similarly, we see opportunities in the Compostable Bin liners for food and organics diversion as another emerging market.

SECOS Group CEO, Ian Stacey said, “SECOS participates across the value chain of compostable products and sees a logical extension of this to sell our own SECOS branded consumer offerings into expanding retail markets.”

The initial order from VCS was for 97 stores, however there is potential to expand to over two hundred stores in the near future. VCS was established in 1946 to provide merchandise and services to Veterans enrolled in the Veterans Healthcare system as well as visitors to the two hundred or so VCS sites.
