SECOS GROUP LIMITED
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
HELD AT SECOS GROUP LIMTED HEAD OFFICE
SUITE 6, LEVEL 2
205-211 FORSTER ROAD
MOUNT WAVERLEY VICTORIA 3149
2015 was a year of significant transformation for the Company. SECOS Group Ltd (“SECOS”), formed through the merger of Cardia Bioplastics Ltd (“Cardia”) and Stellar Films Group (“Stellar”) in April 2015 to become a leader in sustainable packaging with core market segments in Films & Packaging and Waste Management Solutions.
Since the successful implementation of the merger SECOS has completed its first full quarter of trading and reported sales of $5.49 million representing a 13.2% improvement on the prior quarter. The company is on track to meet its full year forecast despite the demanding task of integrating the two newly merged businesses. SECOS is now well positioned to continue its pursuit of leadership in sustainable packaging solutions.
Shareholders who have invested in SECOS have seen their money go to work with significant progress since the merger. To appreciate the progress SECOS has made I am very pleased to provide an outline of the company’s top ten key achievements which our Group Managing Director, Mr Stephen Walters will elaborate on during his Managing Director’s report.
-
The successful development of a range of high quality sustainable and cost competitive cast films made possible by combining Cardia Biohybrid ™resin technology with Stellar’s cast film plant capability.
-
This success led to the decision to keep open Stellar’s Australian cast film plant. Since the decision, the plant is now generating sales in excess of $400,000 per month and is expected to grow during the year as sales ramp up with capacity to produce up to 6,000 tonnes of high quality hygiene films per annum.
-
The Group has received product requests and specifications for its Biohybrid™hygiene films from ten potential customers for in-house validation and product performance testing.
-
Sealed Air launched its PakNatural® Biodegradable Cushion Bags using Cardia Compostable films.
-
Cardia launched an on-line distribution sales channel through its Cardia Bioproducts website, www.cardiabioproducts.com allowing consumers, businesses and councils to purchase a wide range of sustainable bag products directly from Cardia.
-
Cardia Bioplastics signed a two-year supply contract with Transpacific Cleanaway to support council organic waste diversion programmes.
-
Cardia expanded waste diversion sales to the Australian Council sector and already supplies over 100,000 households representing 5% of households in the State of Victoria.
-
New orders from a Kenyan Manufacturer for Stellar Films to supply the expanding personal care and hygiene segment in this rapidly growing market.
-
Improved IP position including the award of European patent protection for Cardia’s bioplastics technology which now takes Cardia’s patent portfolio to twenty-eight patents granted with thirty-nine more pending registration.
-
The recent offer of more than $2 million debtor funding facility to support future sales growth which is expected to be drawn down by the end of November 2015 and provide essential cash flow for the business.
The management team at SECOS has only just begun working together under the newly merged entity and, as you can see from the list of highlights, a great deal has been achieved so far. The group is expected to continue to grow sales and improve its technological position as a market leader in sustainable films & packaging and waste management solutions.
The packaging industry, governments and consumers are all demanding more sustainable solutions to meet the growing need for more environmentally friendly products:
-
Packaging companies are looking at ways to make their products more sustainable.
-
Consumers are demanding more environmentally and sustainable packaging.
-
Governments are implementing programmes and legislation around the world which will force the move to more sustainable packaging and waste management.
Accordingly, the sustainable packaging & film and waste management markets require high quality and cost competitive solutions to meet the broad demand that currently exists.
SECOS Group has the technology, product range and manufacturing capabilities to meet this market demand and stands to be the market leader in this space.
I would like to thank the Shareholders for their continued support and patience and for believing in the vision for the company.
