The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– The EBIT of the Mühlbauer Group increased significantly in the first quarter of the business year 2001. Earnings before interest and tax amount to a total of EUR 7.7 million, which is more than 63 % above the figure from the same quarter last year (EUR 4.7 million). The EBIT increase is extremely high compared with the sales development ( + 33.5 %). This means that Mühlbauer has continued to boost ist earning power in the new business year. The net income in the first quarter of 2001 is EUR 4.3 million as compared with EUR 3.9 million last year. Mühlbauer is also able to report a significant increase in the cash flow from operating activities. The total of EUR + 6.6 million is an increase of almost 219 % as compared with the same quarter last year (EUR – 5.5 million). Despite of the extremely high investments at the location Roding with EUR 8.8 million, free cash flow improved by more than 40 % from EUR – 5.6 million to EUR – 3.4 million. In the first quarter Mühlbauer recorded a solid order income of EUR 34.1 million. This means an improvement of 10.1 % in incoming orders as compared with last yearss quarter (EUR 31.0 million). Sales of almost EUR 29.5 million in the first quarter of 2001 exceed the total from the same period in the year 2000 (EUR 22.1 million) by more than 33 %. Mühlbauer is also able to report a new high for the order backlog. Incoming orders in the area of Semiconductor Related Products remain nearly unchanged (EUR 14.2 million in Q1/2000 as com-pared with EUR 13.9 million in Q1/2001). In the division of Board Handling incoming orders declined slightly by 12 % to EUR 1.8 million (pre. year: EUR 2 million) and in the division of Parts & Systems by 75 % to EUR 1.7 million (prev. year: 6.8 million), which, however, is connected with high-volume orders (+ 208 % from Q1/1999 to Q1/2000) included in last years quarter. Sales of almost EUR 29.5 million in the first quarter of 2001 exceed the total from the same period in the year 2000 (EUR 22.1 million) by more than 33 %. The division of Smart Identification improved by 130 % to EUR 16 million (pre. year: EUR 7 million). Sales in Semiconductor Related Products declined by a little more than 24 % (from EUR 10.4 to EUR 8 million). Board Handling increased its sales by almost half (+ 48 % from EUR 1.7 to EUR 2.4 million) and Parts & Systems remains nearly unchanged at last years high level ( + 0.7 & from EUR 3 to EUR 3.1 million). Mühlbauer is also able to report a new high for the order backlog. With an order backlog of more than EUR 60 million the orders reach well into the current business year. Smart Identification shows an increase of more than 136 % (from EUR 9 to EUR 21.2 million). Semiconductor Related Products and Parts & Systems increased their order backlog by almost 45 % (from EUR 19.1 to 27.7 million) and 33 % (from EUR 8.1 to EUR 10.8 million), respectively. In the area of Board Handling the order value remains unchanged with EUR 1.2 million.
