Ad hoc announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– According to preliminary figures, the Mühlbauer Group has achieved a total increase in sales of 15 percent for the first half of 2001. Volume has increased from 50.5 million EUR in the previous year to 58 million EUR in the first six months of business year 2001. With regard to the second quarter, turnover has held the same high level as in the comparable quarter of the previous year (Q2/2000: 28.4 million EUR; Q2/2001: 28.7 million EUR). With these results, the worldwide market leader in production systems for Smart Cards has defied the weakening economy and the lasting slump in the global market for semiconductors. Despite the difficult market environment, the Board of Directors is sticking to its set turnover goal for business year 2001. After achieving a total turnover of 110.3 million EUR in 2000, the Roding-based company is still aiming for 130 million EUR in 2001. At a value of 25.3 million EUR, incoming orders have slightly decreased by 2.9 percent in the second quarter of 2001 (previous year: 26 million EUR). Compared with the first-half period last year, incoming orders reached a value of 59.4 million EUR and thus four percent more than in the first six months of 2000 (57 million EUR). Order backlog continues to remain at a very high level: 53 million EUR as of June 30, 2001 mean an increase of 56 percent in comparison to the previous year (34 million EUR). The detailed report on the second quarter of the business year 2001, with the exact figures for all business areas and complete financial data, shall be presented on August 14, 2001. end of ad hoc announcement (c) DGAP 10.07.2001 Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad hoc announcement: First half-year turnover increases by 15 percent – Mühlbauer confirms its expectations According to preliminary figures, the Mühlbauer Group has achieved a total increase in sales of 15 percent for the first half of 2001.
