The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Mühlbauer attains sales on last year’s level despite difficult market environment – Sales target adjusted due to market factors According to the preliminary figures, the Mühlbauer Group managed to attain sales of EUR 76.7 m. within the first nine months of fiscal year 2001. Despite the high level of insecurity on the markets and the continuation of the difficult market situation, sales have been reached on last year’s level. In case of order income, the Roding special-purpose engineers can record a value of EUR 74.0 m. from January to September 2001. Order backlog is at EUR 42.8 m. on September 30th, 2001. Furthermore, the core business field of Smart Identification has intensified significantly: With attained sales of EUR 41.0 m., this business area is more than 35 percent above the first nine months of 2000 (EUR 30.3 m.). The total incoming orders amounting to EUR 45.2 m. has improved by 21 percent as compared to the corresponding period last year (EUR 37.3 m.). Order backlog of EUR 23.3 m. in the area of Smart ID means an increase of more than 67 percent in comparison with order backlog on September 30th, 2000 (EUR 13.9 m.). Nevertheless, market situation has continued to worsen worldwide. The Mühlbauer Group can no longer escape from the persistent decline of the markets. Seeing that all experts do not assume a clear stimulation of economic activity in the 4th quarter 2001, the board of management is adjusting its original planning from the beginning of the year and now expects a sales target for 2001 on the level of fiscal year 2000 (EUR 110.3 m.).
