Mühlbauer publishes Quarterly Report III/2001 Ad-hoc-announcement transmitted by DGAP. The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Mühlbauer publishes Quarterly Report III/2001: Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) improved by 7.1 percent to EUR 16 mill. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of the Mühlbauer Group rose by 7.1 percent to EUR 16.0 mill. in the first nine months 2001 (previous year: EUR 15.0 mill.). EBIT margin improved from 19.5 percent as of September 30, 2000 to 21 percent as of September 30, 2001. With sales of EUR 76.5 mill. in the first nine months of 2001, the Mühlbauer Group has been able to maintain the level of the previous year (EUR 76.8 mill.; – 0.4 percent). Order income between January and September has decreased by 22.7 percent to EUR 74.0 mill. compared to the same period of the previous year (2000: EUR 95.8 mill.). With EUR 42.8 mill. order backlog is approximately at the level of the year 2000. Compared to the previous year (EUR 45.2 mill.) order backlog has decreased by 5.2 percent. Smart Identification becomes more and more core business of Mühlbauer. As of September 30, 2001, order backlog rose by two thirds (+ 67.7 percent) to EUR 23.3 mill. compared with last year (EUR 13.9 mill.). Order income increased by 21 percent from EUR 37.3 mill. to EUR 45.2 mill. That affected also sales in the first nine months: Sales rose from EUR 30.3 mill. as of end of third quarter 2000 to EUR 41 mill. in current fiscal year; that means an increase of 35.2 percent. The first three quarters of 2001 saw a minor decline in net income for the Mühlbauer Group: EUR 10 mill. in 2000 compared to EUR 9.2 mill. in 2001; this represents a decline of 8.1 percent. Earnings per share is calculated at EUR 0.63 as of September 30, 2001; this is 3.3 percent more than on September 30, 2000 (EUR 0.61).
