নদীর আগ্রাসন থেকে বাচতে আন্দোলনে রতুয়া

দুরন্ত বার্তা, মালদা, ২০ আগস্ট ঃ গঙ্গা ও ফুলহার এই দুই নদীর জোড়া ভাঙনের কবলে পড়ে অন্তিত্বহীন হতে বসেছে মালদার রতুয়ার একাধিক গ্রাম। বছরের পর বছর ভাঙ্গনের পরিমাণ বাড়তে থাকলেও কোনও স্থায়ী ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয়নি বলে অভিযোগ। এই অবস্থায় সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে আন্দোলনে নামার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়ে কমিটি গঠন করল নদী পারের বাসিন্দারা। গঙ্গা ও ফুলহার নদীর ভাঙন রোধের দাবিতে এবার কমিটি গড়ে আন্দোলনের পথে রতুয়ার একাধিক গ্রামের মানুষ। এলাকার ভাঙ্গন রোধে স্থায়ী ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের দাবিতে একইসঙ্গে কেন্দ্রীয় ও রাজ্য সরকারের কাছে দাবি জানাবেন দুই নদীর পার লাগোয়া অঞ্চলের বাসিন্দারা। তার পরও সরকারের টনক না নড়লে আন্দোলন করে স্তর করা হবে রতুয়া। বুধবার নাগরিক কনভেনশনে ডেকে আন্দোলনের রূপরেখা চূড়ান্ত করলেন

রতুয়ার মহানন্দাটোলা ও বিলাইমারি অঞ্চলের মানুষ। এ দিনের কনভেনশনে রতুয়ার এই দুই পঞ্চায়েতের কুড়িটি গ্রামের প্রতিনিধিরা অংশ নেন। স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের অভিযোগ, গত প্রায় তিন দশক ধরে নদী ভাঙন চলছে রতুয়ায়। আগে ফুলহার ও গঙ্গা নদীর মধ্যে দূরত্ব ছিল প্রায় ২৫ কিলোমিটার। আর এখন নদীর পাড় ভাঙতে ভাঙতে দুই নদী একে অন্যের সঙ্গে মিলিত হতে চাইছে। এখন এই দুই নদীর দূরত্ব মাত্র দুই কিলোমিটার। গত তিন দশক ধরে গঙ্গা ও ফুলহারের তাণ্ডবে নদীগর্ভে তলিয়ে গিয়েছে হাজার হাজার বিঘা -কৃষিজমি। জলের গভীরে মিলিয়ে গিয়েছে অসংখ্য ভিটেমাটি। জমি-বাড়ি হারানো প্রচুর মানুষ এখন খোলা আকাশের নীচে ত্রিপল টাণ্ডিয়ে বসবাস করছেন। রতুয়ার কাটাহা দিয়ারা এলাকা থেকে গঙ্গার দূরত্ব এক কিলোমিটারেরও কম। আবার দ্বারকটোলা, গঙ্গারামটোলা প্রভৃতি গ্রাম থেকে ফুলহার নদীর দূরত্ব মাত্র ২৫ মিটার। অন্যদিকে জাফর হাজিটোলা গ্রামের সরকারি আইসিডিএস সেন্টার

বুথটিও এখন জলের তলায়। সেন্টারের পাশে থাকা মসজিদ ও গ্রামের প্রচুর বাড়িঘর এবার গঙ্গাগর্ভে তলিয়ে গিয়েছে। এই অবস্থায় যে কোনও মুহুর্তে নদীর ভাঙ্গনে এই সব এলাকার মানচিত্র পর্যন্ত পাল্টে যাবে বলে আশঙ্কা স্থানীয়দের। এলাকার বাসিন্দাদের অভিযোগ, ভাঙন হলেও তা ঠেকাতে কোনও সরকারি উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়নি। সাংসদ, বিধায়ক জনপ্রতিনিধিরা এলাকায় এসে কেউ রাজ্য সরকার কেউ কেন্দ্রীয় সরকারের উপরে দায় চাপিয়েছেন। অথচ কাজের কাজ কিছুই হচ্ছে না। এই অবস্থায় একাধিক গ্রামের বাসিন্দাদের একত্রিত করে এবার অরাজনৈতিক আন্দোলন গড়ে তোলার উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হল। প্রথমে প্রশাসনকে স্মারকলিপি, একইসঙ্গে কেন্দ্রীয় ও রাজ্য সরকারের কাছে আবেদন পত্র পাঠানো হবে। এতে কাজ না হলে রাস্তায় নেমে চরম আন্দোলনের হুঁশিয়ারি দিয়েছেন রতুয়ার নদীপারের বাসিন্দারা। যদিও এখনই এনিয়ে কোনও মন্তব্য করতে রাজি হয়নি ব্লক প্রশাসন।

পালা বয়স একান্ন বছর। ঘটনার জেরে তীব্ৰ চাঞ্চল্য ছড়ায় এলাকায়। পুলিশ ও পরিবার সত্রে জানতে পারা যায়. পেশায় ব্যবসায়ী সুশান্ত বাবু বেশকিছু দিন ধরে মানসিক অবসাদে ভুগছিলেন। যে কারণে তার খইয়ের ব্যবসার দায়িত্বভার ছেলেকে দিয়ে দেন। পরিবার সূত্রের খবর বুধবার দুপুরে নিজের ঘরেই সিলিং ফ্যানে গামছার ফাঁস দিয়ে ঝুলে পড়েন সুশান্ত পাল। তার স্ত্রী দেখতে পেয়ে প্রতিবেশীদের জানালে তারা ঘটনাস্থলে ছুটে এসে সুশান্ত বাবুকে উদ্ধার করে নবদ্বীপ হাসপাতালে নিয়ে আসেন। সেখানে সুশান্ত পালকে মৃত বলে ঘোষণা করেন চিকিৎসক। বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুরে দেহটি উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য কৃষ্ণনগর শক্তিনগর জেলা হাসপাতালে পাঠায় নবদ্বীপ থানার পুলিশা

গ্রেফতার ৮৮

দুরন্ত বার্তা, মালদা, ২০ আগস্ট ঃ লকডাউন উপেক্ষা করায় বৃহস্পতিবার উত্তর মালদা থেকে ৮৮ জনকে গ্রেফতার করল পুলিশ। পুলিশ সূত্রে জানা গিয়েছে, চাঁচলে গ্রেফতার করা হয়েছে ৩৯ জনকে, রতুয়ায় ১৪ জনকে এবং হরিশ্চন্দ্রপুরে ৩৫ জনকো। মহকুমায় করোনা আক্রান্তের সংখ্যা দিন দিন বেড়ে চলেছে। কিন্তু তারপরও মানুষের হুঁশ ফিরছে না । এদিন লকডাউন উপেক্ষা করায় পুলিশ কিছু মানুষকে কানধরে উঠবস করাতেও দেখা যায়। এই বিষয়ে চাঁচলের এসডিপিও সজলকান্তি বিশ্বাস বলেন, 'লকডাউন কার্যকর করতে পুলিশ তৎপর ছিল। লকডাউন ভঙ্গকারী গোটা উত্তর মালদায় ৮৮ জনকে গ্রেফতার করেছে পুলিশ। তাঁদের সবার বিরুদ্ধে বিপর্যয় মোকাবিলা আইনে মামলা করা হবে।'
