The festivities took place with several national and international guests in attendance at MorphoSys’ premises in Martinsried near Munich. Among the guest speakers was Bavarian Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport and Technology, Dr. Otto Wiesheu, who underscored the pioneering role of MorphoSys in the German biotechnology sector. In a very visible initial public offering in March 1999, MorphoSys was the first German biopharmaceutical company to go public, thereby helping to establish the biotechnology sector in Germany. With partnerships including several renowned pharma- and biotechnology companies such as Bayer, Schering, Centocor and Roche, MorphoSys has established itself as a globally recognized leader in the field of human antibodies. More recently, the Company expanded its business model to include the development of own therapeutic antibodies.
