Appointment of Non-executive Director

The Board of Morgan Advanced Materials plc announces that Clement Woon is to be appointed to the Board, as a non-executive director, with effect from Friday 10 May 2019 (immediately after the Annual General Meeting).

Clement is the Group Chief Executive of Saurer AG, a €1 billion textile machinery and components business, with its European headquarter in Switzerland and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.  He was previously Co-Executive Officer of Jinsheng Group Ltd, where he acted as a strategic consultant.  Prior to that Clement was Chief Executive Officer of the textile division of OC Oerlikon AG, President and Chief Executive Officer of SATS Ltd and spent 10 years working for Leica Geosystems AG.   

Clement was born and educated in Singapore and has an M.B.A in Technology Management from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, a M.Sc in Industrial Engineering and B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore.

The appointment follows a comprehensive search process using an external agency led by the Nomination Committee.  The appointment of an additional non-executive director fills the vacancy on the Board which arose following Andrew Shilston's retirement from the Board in December 2018.  Following Clement's appointment, the Board will comprise five non‐executive directors (including the Chairman) and two executive directors.

For the purposes of Listing Rule 9.6.13, Clement is a director of  Saurer Intelligent Technology Limited, a company with its European headquarter in Switzerland and listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange. He was previously Chief Executive Officer of the textile division of OC Oerlikon AG between January 2012 and February 2014 and Co-Executive Officer of Jinsheng Group Ltd from July 2014 to August 2016. There are no further disclosures to be made under Listing Rule 9.6.13.
