MIKO ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT OF JAN MICHIELSEN KARL HERMANS AND KRISTOF MICHIELSEN TO TAKE OVER MANAGEMENT OF PLASTICS DIVISION

Turnhout, 3 September 2014 – Miko, the Euronext Brussels listed specialist in coffee service and plastic packaging, has announced that Jan Michielsen is to retire on 31 December 2014. He will be succeeded as head of the plastics division by Karl Hermans and Kristof Michielsen.

Jan Michielsen joined the Miko Group in 1976, was head of the plastics division from 1999 and was a member of the Board of Directors and joint managing director (with Frans Van Tilborg) from 2010.

"After more than 30 years working at Miko Pac, I can look back at my career with satisfaction. I'm proud that I was able to be part of a team which, in a couple of decades, managed to transform Miko Pac from a small handicraft business to a company which is recognised for its flexibility and quality far beyond Belgium's borders. I want to wish the new team great success in further expanding our wonderful company," said Jan Michielsen.

Karl Hermans and Kristof Michielsen, both members of the Michielsen family, the Group's majority shareholders, will gradually take over Jan's duties as of now and will jointly run the plastics division as of January 2015.

Karl Hermans (40) has been working with the Miko Group since 2007 and has been sales director for Miko Pac since 2010. He will now assume additional duties in the area of marketing, quality and administration.

Kristof Michielsen (38) has worked with the Group since 1998 and is currently operating as production director. R&D will now be added to his range of duties, as well as the management of the Miko Pac plant in Bydgoszcz (Poland), in consultation with the local management.

Karl and Kristof will be proposed for appointment as directors at the annual general meeting in May next year. Until then, Jan Michielsen will retain his position on the Board of Directors as a non-executive director. Frans Van Tilborg remains Group CEO and will be sole managing director from January 2015.

Frans Van Tilborg explains: "We are particularly appreciative and grateful to Jan for his many years of commitment to the Group. He has made a major contribution to the expansion of the plastics division, making it a valuable second core activity of the Miko Group. I am also especially pleased that there are two strong successors from the family who are ready to take over from him. This change of generations signals that Miko Pac and the whole group is ready for the major challenges that lie ahead of us."
