MICRO-X APPOINTS - DAVID KNOX AS NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Adelaide, Australia, 30[th] March 2020: Australian hi-tech company Micro-X Ltd (ASX:MX1) ( Micro-X or the Company ), a leader in cold cathode X-ray technology for health and security markets globally, is pleased to announce the appointment of David Knox as a Non-Executive Director effective from 7 April 2020.

Mr Knox is a highly experienced and respected business leader with senior leadership, engineering and public markets expertise gained in multi-national, domestic and Commonwealth companies. Mr Knox is MD and CEO of Australian Naval Infrastructure, a Government Business Enterprise responsible for the delivery of naval infrastructure required to support the Commonwealth’s continuous shipbuilding programme. He is stepping down from this role on 3 April 2020 on completion of the $535m Osborne South Shipyard. Mr Knox was previously MD & CEO of Santos from March 2008 through until his retirement in December 2015, successfully leading the delivery of the $16.1b GLNG project and as a partner in the Exxon led $16b PNG LNG project. Prior to this he was MD for BP Developments in Australasia based in Perth from 2003 to 2007, having also worked for BP in Pakistan as Business Unit Leader and in London as Director Capital Productivity. He has also held senior management and engineering positions at ARCO in the UK and USA and Shell in Scotland, Norway and the Netherlands.

Mr Knox is currently Chair of Snowy Hydro Limited and The Australian Centre for Social Innovation (TACSI). He is also a board member of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Redflow Limited, Migration Council of Australia, Adelaide Festival (AF) and the Royal Institution of Australia (RiAUS) Mr Knox is originally from Edinburgh, Scotland and has a BSc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering (Edinburgh) and an MBA (Strathclyde). He is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Mechanical Engineering and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.

Mr Knox’s appointment is part of a Board rejuvenation process being undertaken to increase Micro-X’s capabilities as it expands its activities in global healthcare, defence and security markets.

The Company’s first product, the Carestream DRX Revolution Nano , is an ultra-lightweight digital medical X-ray system for the rapidly expanding mobile X-ray market in hospitals and healthcare. The Carestream DRX Revolution Nano holds 510(k) and CE Mark certifications and is sold commercially in a number of global markets by the Company’s exclusive distributor, Carestream Health, Inc. The Company has a portfolio of innovative products in development, aimed at customer solutions where there is little or no competition. This includes the Mobile Backscatter Imager ( MBI ) which will image Improvised Explosive Devices for airport security, defence and counter-terrorism applications. The MBI is being jointly developed in partnership with Thales, a global supplier of defence and security technology systems, who are providing technical support and $10 million of funding.
