ASX Release 13 August 2004 ASX code: MEI
NEW APPLICATIONS OVER SHALLOW INTERSECTION OF 4M @ 2.37% Cu AND AT LEAST NINE NEW GRAVITY-MAGNETIC TARGETS
Following its listing on the ASX in mid-July, Meteoric Resources has completed a 400 line-kilometre detailed ground magnetic and gravity survey over selected areas of its Warrego North project, situated 3km north of the Warrego mine (1.3Moz gold and 91,500t copper) near Tennant Creek, and begun detailed modelling of the results.
Initial interpretation of results has identified at least six coincident gravity and magnetic targets in addition to three gravity targets. The three gravity targets lie along a prominent 9km-long NNW-trending gravity ridge that trends towards the nearby Warrego mine.
The coincident gravity and magnetic targets include the Parakeet prospect where previous shallow drilling intersected anomalous gold and copper values in hematitic sediments. Parakeet is interpreted to lie on the NW-trending Navigator Fault which trends through the Warrego mine. The Parakeet anomaly is a pronounced geophysical feature associated with several outcropping ironstones, with a well defined 1kmdiameter, 220nT, dipole magnetic anomaly and a 0.6mgal gravity anomaly situated on a gravity ridge which is open to the east and at least 3.5km in length.
In addition, a new target has been identified at the Chook prospect situated 5km south west of Parakeet on tenement applications forming part of the Warrego North project. Previous limited shallow drilling at Chook intersected copper mineralisation in magnetite quartzites with a best intercept of 4m at 2.37% copper on a porphyry contact. The coincidence of anomalous metal values with specific geophysical features at Parakeet and Chook provide encouragement for further exploration of these targets and add to the potential of the Warrego North project.
Modelling of the Parakeet and other anomalies is currently being carried out to define specific drilling targets with drilling scheduled to commence by September. Further gravity and ground magnetic surveys have been commissioned on the western part of the tenement. These surveys are following up a number of prospective aeromagnetic signatures which resemble the Chook porphyry target.
