PRESS RELEASE

A NEW ADDITION TO ITS CALCARB® RANGE HAS ESTABLISHED A LEAD FOR MERSEN IN THE SEMICONDUCTOR MARKET

PARIS, OCTOBER 6, 2016 - Mersen (Euronext FR0000039620 – MRN), a global expert in electrical power and advanced materials, has strengthened its position in the expanding semiconductor market by launching a next-generation insulation product in the Calcarb® range meeting the increasingly demanding and complex needs of this market.

Designed and manufactured at the Holytown (Scotland) plant, a center of excellence for insulation solutions for very high-temperature industrial environments, this product delivers enhanced and still unmatched thermal conductivity and resilience for semiconductor manufacturing equipment. It is the result of an innovative production process developed in conjunction with the R&D teams and implemented thanks to recent investments at the plant.

The addition of this new higher-performance product to its range is increasing Mersen's market share with manufacturers of mono-crystal silicon- and compound-based semiconductors. Their strong expansion is related to the growing demand for more rapid, more compact and more efficient components for LED applications and power electronics, especially for electric vehicles. Mersen is collaborating with the most innovative leaders in the semiconductor market to deliver next-generation technologies.

This success demonstrates Mersen's highly effective policy of innovation and its ability to establish itself in expanding markets.

Overall, Mersen generates sales of around €45 million in the semiconductor manufacturing market and anticipates a compound annual growth rate of between 5% and 10% over the next few years.
