Mersen wins an order worth close to €7 million from AkzoNobel

Mersen is announcing the signature of a contract with AkzoNobel worth close to €7 million due for delivery in 2013. Signed as part of the modernization of AkzoNobel's chlor-alkali production facility in Frankfurt (Germany), the contract is to supply a set of turnkey units (skids) for the chemicals industry.

Mersen was chosen on account of its expertise in the design, manufacture and delivery of turnkey hydrogen chloride synthesis units and its innovative heat recovery system, which reduces the energy cost of the process. The units ordered from Mersen are built to withstand what is a highly corrosive process. Designed entirely by Mersen's engineering department, they will be delivered in the form of turnkey units ready for connection. This means that the customer will be able to start them up as rapidly as possible.

These turnkey systems are for incorporation in units producing chlor-alkali and chloromethane. These products are used in the manufacture of plastics, silicones and synthetic rubber, as well as by process industries (metal-working, paper, textiles, etc.).
