A strategic step forward for Mersen in the energy market in China
Mersen has just secured HAF 604 certification of its dedicated equipment for the Chinese civil nuclear industry. The Group is the first foreign company in its category to gain accreditation in high-pressure devices and heat exchangers used to generate nuclear power in China.
Already established in France in sophisticated stainless steel boiler equipment for secondary and auxiliary reactor circuits, the Group, which possesses expertise well-known among the international industry majors, will now be able to manufacture equipment for the Chinese market.
With a view to ensuring a supply of reliable components required for its drive to expand in civil nuclear power, China's National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA) is responsible for issuing certifications, including the "Supervision and Management Regulations for Imported Civilian Nuclear Safety Equipment" or HAF604. This certification regulates the import of equipment used in nuclear applications and means that all foreign companies must be certified.
This accreditation will enable Mersen to respond to calls to tender for the numerous nuclear power plant projects going ahead in China, where French technology is regarded as the benchmark. It is also the product of the Group's recognized expertise in terms of the quality and safety of its equipment.
This forward step fits perfectly with the Group's strategy of expansion, which is notably predicated on a strong positioning in Asia and in alternative energies.
