Mersen acquires the remainder of Zhejiang Mingrong Electrical Protection's capital

Mersen is announcing that it has acquired the remainder of the capital of Mingrong Electrical Protection (MEP) located in the Chinese province of Zheijiang. It had previously held a 51% stake since July 2008.

With the broadest range of products of all the Chinese participants in the fuse and fusegear market, MEP has contributed to the strong growth in Mersen's export business and sales in China, notably by complementing the Group's existing products with its own. It has also given the Group a stronger commercial presence in the Chinese distributor and original-equipment manufacturer segment. Mersen has successfully won the confidence of MEP's longstanding shareholders in its ability to continue developing new electrical protection technologies in China and Asia. Mersen will share with the newly acquired entity the successful products it has developed in the buoyant energy efficiency and renewable energies segments to accelerate its development.

Full ownership of MEP will help Mersen to harness synergies more rapidly by enhancing the operational efficiency and competitiveness of its production platform. It will also help the Group to consolidate its leadership across all its markets and particularly in Asia.
