PRESS RELEASE

Paris, December 11, 2014

  • Mercialys inaugurates the extension and renovation of its flagship shopping center Espace Anjou in Angers with an extra 5,000 m² of space and 24 new stores, bringing the total number of stores in the center to 120.
  • Espace Anjou also obtains Breeam In Use "Outstanding" certification, the 3rd Mercialys shopping center to achieve this level in less than 3 months.

Mercialys has inaugurated the extension of its Espace Anjou shopping center. Elegantly renovated in local Anjou colors, Espace Anjou has 24 new stores and 5,000 m² of extra space, consolidating on its position as leader in the area.

Among the newcomers, Espace Anjou welcomes some fifteen trending concepts, completely new to the area, such as Kiabi Kids, which opens its first store in France, Hema, Du Bruit dans la Cuisine, Kaporal, Izac, Calzedonia, Linvosges, and Pandora. The center has also improved the diversity of its foodservice offering with a mix of national chains such as Francesca and Crêap'Eat, and local restaurateurs Tran and La Maison Bécam.

Espace Anjou, a flagship shopping center with 120 stores, is a perfect illustration of Mercialys' winning strategy of making its shopping centers one-stop retail destinations that stand out from the rest of the market, evolving over time in harmony with their regional ecosystem.

Mercialys' teams have worked tirelessly to achieve the highest standards of environmental excellence, not only in the renovation and extension works but also in building management. These efforts have been rewarded with Breeam in Use "Excellent" certification for the intrinsic quality of the building and "Outstanding" for its management.

This is the third shopping center to obtain the highest building management rating after La Caserne de Bonne in Grenoble and Chateaufarine in Besançon, marking a further step in Mercialys' strategy of obtaining "Outstanding" certification for at least 30% of its portfolio in value by the end of 2015.

BREEAM (BRE Environmental Assessment Method) is the world's foremost environmental assessment method and rating system for buildings, with more than 110,000 buildings certified. BREEAM sets the standard for best practice in sustainable building construction and is one of the most widely used measures of a building's environmental performance. The operation of BREEAM is overseen by an independent Sustainability Board, representing a wide cross-section of construction industry stakeholders.
